Supporting health, safety, and success for youth throughout the Intermountain region.The Tri County Community Network (TCCN) is proud to highlight a year of impactful programs designed to support the health, well-being, and success of local students across the Intermountain region. Through strong partnerships and grant-funded initiatives, TCCN continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth and families.
Building Life Skills Through BOTVIN Education
Now in its second year at Fall River Elementary (FRE) and Burney Elementary School (BES), the BOTVIN LifeSkills Training Program has served just over 200 students this school year.Funded through the SNTIF grant, the program provides essential education focused on preventing substance use while strengthening life skills.
Students participate in engaging lessons covering topics such as:
The health effects of smoking and vaping
Building self-esteem
Effective communication
Stress management
Assertiveness and decision-making
This evidence-based program equips students with the tools they need to make healthy, informed choices.
Peer Mentoring Program Returns to Fall River High School
TCCN proudly reintroduced its Peer Mentoring Program at Fall River High School (FRHS) this year. In partnership with the Shasta County Chemical People program, 18 seventh-grade students were paired with 16 high school mentors from the 10th and 11th grades.Together, participants explored important topics including:
The risks of smoking, vaping, and marijuana use
Peer pressure and making positive choices
Prejudice and inclusion
Self-esteem and resilience
Healthy ways to manage stress
The program is designed to provide incoming junior high students with additional support during a critical transition period—helping improve both health and educational outcomes,
Intermountain Care Closet Provides “A Hand Up” 
TCCN continues to meet immediate community needs through the Intermountain Care Closet, open every Tuesday from 1:00–2:00 p.m. in the TCCN event room. Funded through a grant from the Mayers Healthcare Foundation, the Care Closet provides essential resources to individuals and families in need.Available items and support include:
Gas vouchers to help job seekers reach interviews
Thrift store gift cards for work clothing
Hygiene supplies
Cold-weather items such as blankets and socks
In collaboration with partners like the SMART Workforce Center, TCCN helps connect individuals to employment resources and support services—offering not just assistance, but opportunity.
Safe Seats Program Enhances Child Passenger Safety
Through a grant from the Mayers Healthcare Foundation, TCCN has expanded its Safe Seats Car Seat Program to help ensure children travel safely.To date:
10 car seats and 1 booster seat have been installed
6 local families have been served
This program is delivered in partnership with Pit River Health Service and their certified car seat installers, ensuring families receive proper education and installation support for child passenger safety.
“These programs reflect TCCN’s commitment to strengthening our community by supporting our youth and families where it matters most,” said TCCN Executive Director, Marrisa Martin.
“By working together with our schools and community partners, we are helping build a healthier, more resilient future.”
