Local Seniors Graduate with Lifesaving Skills Through CPR Certification Program

This spring, 55 high school seniors from the Fall River Joint Unified School District earned their CPR certification, gaining essential skills that could help save lives in an emergency. The training, certified by the American Heart Association, ran from February through April 2025 and combined online learning with hands-on instruction.

Led by Zita Beile and Ryan Harper of Mayers Memorial Healthcare District, the in-person sessions ensured each student met national CPR standards. Their guidance provided students with the confidence and competence to respond in critical situations.

The program was a collaborative effort made possible by Mayers Healthcare Foundation, Tri County Community Network, Mayers Memorial Hospital, and the Fall River Joint Unified School District. It also served as a senior project for Fall River High School student Isaiah Wortman, whose initiative played a key role in bringing the opportunity to his classmates.

By certifying more than 50 students, this initiative not only empowered local youth with vital emergency response skills, but also enhanced the overall preparedness and safety of the community.
