About Jim Ferguson


Jim Ferguson is a retired Assistant Chief and Law Enforcement Officer with CAL FIRE. His public safety career spanned 34 years, during which time he was a Licensed Paramedic for 26 years, EMS Program Manager, EMS Coordinator, Paramedic Preceptor, and EMT Instructor. He was a founding member of the CAL FIRE EMS Committee, where he assisted in EMS policy development for over 8,500 employees and worked closely with Local Emergency Medical Services Agencies.

He has extensive experience in Incident Management, serving on Incident Management Teams for 17 years. A few of his nationally qualified roles are Type 1 Incident Commander, Deputy Area Commander, and Assistant Area Commander-Planning. He is also a qualified Type 1 Operations Section Chief, Type 1 Planning Section Chief, and Type 1 Safety Officer. Jim has responded to large-scale emergency incidents/disasters in California and throughout the United States.

Jim resides in Burney and has been married to his wife, Jeanine, for 32 years. He is the proud father of three adult children who were raised in the Intermountain area. He is an avid hunter and outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoys our area's natural resources and recreation. Jim believes that emergency services and access to rural healthcare are imperative for a healthy and thriving community, and he feels privileged to serve on the Mayers Memorial Healthcare District Board of Directors.
