About Jim Ferguson

Jim Ferguson is a retired Assistant Chief and law enforcement officer with CAL FIRE, with a distinguished 34-year career in public safety. For 26 of those years, he served as a licensed paramedic, also taking on key leadership roles such as EMS Program Manager, EMS Coordinator, Paramedic Preceptor, and EMT Instructor. Jim was a founding member of the CAL FIRE EMS Committee, where he contributed to the development of EMS policies impacting more than 8,500 employees and collaborated closely with Local Emergency Medical Services Agencies.


He brings extensive experience in incident management, having served on Incident Management Teams for 17 years. His nationally qualified positions include Type 1 Incident Commander, Deputy Area Commander, and Assistant Area Commander–Planning. Throughout his career, Jim has responded to major emergencies and disasters across California and the United States.


Jim lives in Burney and is currently working on a second career as a Supervisor in Wildfire Operations with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. He has been married to his wife, Jeanine, for 34 years and is a proud father and grandfather. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Jim enjoys the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that the Intermountain area has to offer. He is passionate about ensuring access to emergency services and rural healthcare, and he is honored to serve on the Mayers Memorial Healthcare District Board of Directors.
