The Volunteer Program for Mayers Memorial Hospital District is dependent upon volunteers to help in a variety of areas. The focus is to find adequate numbers of volunteers, to provide some orientation and training as needed, and to schedule volunteers having the right skills to the right place at the times needed. Generally, the volunteers have preferences on where they would like to volunteer their time. The program makes every effort to place them in those desired areas.
Currently, a high school senior student will be working on a proposal to increase volunteers either at the junior and/or the adult volunteer level. This student will be monitored by the program director and will oversee the proposal.
Getting the appropriate word out to the community regarding the hospital's need for volunteers will be an ongoing process. Newspapers, newsletters, and other written materials will be developed and distributed to help recruit and retain volunteers throughout each fiscal year.
